Palmer Fire Department Program
Do you know how to use a fire extinguisher? Do you know what to do if your carbon monoxide detector makes a funny noise? Do you know what to do in case of an electrical fire? Captain David Pranaitis and Lt. William Bernat from the Palmer Fire Department will be here to explain all of the above, so you'll know what to do in each case. There will be a question and answer session and broschures for you to take home. Many of us have fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors in our homes but really don't know how to use them. Come on down and learn these important facts.

Free Cookies and Drinks
National Senior Citizen's Day is Thursday, August 21st!!! We will be celebrating this day at the senior center with free cookies and drinks for any senior whom comes in from 11:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.. So come on down and let us show our appreciation to you!!

Saturday, August 23rd
Friends "Country-Western" Fest Celebration
The Friends of the Palmer Senior Center will be hosting a Friends "Country-Western" Fest Celebration at Pulaski Park in Three Rivers. A country western meal will be served at noon followed by live entertainment and music. This is the Friends third annual fundraiser. The emphasis this year is on children; their tickets are only $5.00 for anyone under 10 years of age. We will be providing games and entertainment for the children throughout the day until 4 PM. Meanwhile, there will be plenty of raffles and prizes for the adults to enjoy along with country-western music. Tickets for adults are $15.00 and will go on sales at the end of June and may be purchased at the senior center or from any Friends member.

Half Sour Pickle Making
Do you want to learn how to make half sour pickles? Ed Wojotowicz will be conducting this class. Please bring an empty quart/gallon size pickle container. Cost is only $2.00/quart or $4.00/gallon per person. You must call the senior center to register @ 283-2670.

Eastern States Exposition - Big E
Our annual trips to the Big E will be on consecutive Tuesdays, September 16th and September 23rd. These two days are also senior days. The cost is only $10.00 per ticket and we have ten (10) tickets available for each day. We will be providing van service at a donation price of $5.00 per person. The van will leave the senior center at 9:00 a.m. and depart from the Big E at 3:00 p.m. Because we only have ten tickets for each day it is suggested that you reserve your spot as soon as possible. This is a first come first serve basis.

Bingo
We will be having BINGO every Thursday during July and August from 12:30 till 3:00 at the Palmer Senior Center. Club 55 does not meet at St. Thomas during the summer, so the senior center is utilized instead. This BINGO is open to anyone who wants to come down and play. There is no charge to play on this day. You may also come early to play cards. If you would like to bring your own lunch it can be put into the refrigerator.
        
Wii
On Tuesdays from 12:30 - 3:00, the Wii System will be open to anyone who wants to come in and play. On Wednesdays at 1:00, we  will be having Wii with Betty. Betty will be upstairs to show you how to play and will help those who neeed help. There are many advantages to playing with the Wii system including physical activity and mental activity. If you have never played Wii please come down and learn. It is very simple and a LOT OF FUN!!! You can play many differen't sport games including bowling, tennis, golf, etc.

Meals On Wheels Birthday Bags
We are going to be putting together birthday bags for our home delivered meals clients. We are looking for donations to put into these bags. We are looking for small pack tissues, bar soap, sugar-free candy, small pads of paper, and other small attractive gifts. If you would like to donate to these wonderful bags for those who are homebound, please drop items off at the senior center.

Senior Volunteer Program
Would you like to earn extra cash? Our senior volunteer program is looking for people willing to provide transportation/companionship to and from Dr. appointments, shopping, banking, etc. to seniors in the Town of Palmer. Volunteers working within this program receive a stipend of $8.25 per hour. Please call Carol Siegel @ 283-2670 if you are interested or if you would like more information.

KICKBOXING FOR SENIORS
Class will be held at the senior center every Tuesday from 10:45 - 11:30. This is a slightly more advances class than the arthritis class with exercise done both sitting and standing. Cost is only $2.00 per class. No registration is required. Just come down.
