Free Smoke Detector Program
Free Smoke Detector Program
Sponsored jointly by the Palmer, Three Rivers, Bondsville Fire Departments and the Palmer Council on Aging.

Working smoke detectors can greatly increase your chances of surviving a fire in your home. That’s why the Palmer Fire Department encourages all citizens to install and maintain approved smoke detection devices in each bedroom and on each floor of their residence. The smoke detector program is designed to insure that smoke detection devices are installed in residences, including those of senior citizens, disabled citizens, or persons living on a fixed income. Since the majority of fire deaths that occur in residential occupancies are caused by smoke inhalation, it is important that all citizens have the early warning a smoke detector can provide. Fire Department officials remind you to clean and test smoke detectors once a month and replace batteries at least twice a year. For more information or to participate in the smoke detector program, stop by the Palmer Fire Department main offices, located at 12 Walnut Street, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, or call 283-3861. Senior Citizens may also contact the Council on Aging at 283-2670 for information and assistance.
