The Collector's Office is responsible for the billing and collection of monies for the Town including:
Real Estate Tax
Personal Property Tax
Motor Vehicle Excice Tax
Sewer Bills
Parking Tickets
Abatements for real estate, personal property and motor vehicle excise are handled by the Assessors Office.
Real Estate bills are mailed semi-annually January and July 1st and are due quarterly February, May, August and November 1st. Late charges and interest are in accordance with Mass. General Laws.
Payments must be received in the Collector's office by 4:30 pm on the due date. Postmarks are not accepted as receipt dates to avoid additional charges.
When using YOUR banks "on-line" to avoid late fees please be aware that the Town is sent a CHECK and it may take up to a week until the Collector's office receives payment.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Town of Palmer. If paying in person cash is always acceptable.
Please enclose the remittance portion of the bill to insure proper credit. If you would like a receipt, enclose a self addressed stamped envelope with your check and the remittance and taxpayer portions.
If your taxes are paid by a bank or mortgage company please make sure they have the correct information, remember as property owner you are ultimately responsible.
Bad checks for any reason has a Twenty-five dollar fine attached.
